Windows Home Server作業系統是微軟首款針對家庭用戶的伺服器作業系統，但目前主
要針對OEM廠商，甚至除了惠普的『EX470 MediaSmart Home Server』系統外很少有其
他產品亮相。在網路上，OEM版本的該作業系統也要賣到180美元左右。不過現在，微
軟開始提供該系統的120天免費試用計劃。

    目前該優惠試用針對包括中國在內的多個國家，只要登錄微軟網站輸入自己的姓
名地址，支付郵遞費用，就能夠收到微軟Windows Home Server系統試用裝。包括
Windows Home Server Installation DVD安裝光碟、Windows Home Server Connector
CD連接光碟和Home Computer Restore CD還原光碟。目前，針對中國用戶的試用裝採
用嘉裡大通物流投遞，快遞費用為160元人民幣（每增加一份需增加100元）。

    Windows Home Server主要用於家庭存儲共享伺服器，只要在家中搭建一臺使用該
系統的伺服器，就能在多臺PC間輕鬆共享各種媒體文件，如照片、音樂、視頻等。由
於主要用於存儲服務，該系統的硬碟要求高達70GB，CPU要求則只有1GHz P3，記憶體
512MB。
