Flow-3D由位於新墨西哥洲Los Alamos的Flow Science Inc.開發的，改進壓鑄仿真
效果的一些重要設計特徵。

Flow-3D首先利用流體體積（VOF）法去預報自由表面流體的運動，表面張力和其它
複雜流動。此方法是進行準確壓鑄仿真的一項先決條件，讓工程師精確追蹤模具型
腔內流動前沿的快速運動。事實上， Flow-3D提供的算法可以仿真液體接口急速的
任意變形，它應用了正確的標準和切向應力邊界條件，讓Flow-3D擁有獨特的準確
性。

有了Flow-3D 的幫助，模具設計師可以容易地發現會導致金屬表面多次接觸空氣的
漩渦，及流動過程中的過早凝固現象，亦可以提供更多有關氣孔和夾雜物的信息。
Flow-3D 還具備獨有的「表面缺陷追蹤」功能，可以確定充型過程各階段氧化及夾
雜物的位置，從而制定溢流槽適當的大小和位置。
